What is the MCDCC

The Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee (MCDCC) plays a unique role in our local government. The MCDCC is not a legislative body, though its members are elected officials. The MCDCC is the governing body for the Democratic Party in Montgomery County.

There are 24 Committee members comprised of two Members from each legislative district across the County. In addition, 8 Members are elected countywide to bring the total to 24 Members. Each Committee member serves a 4-year term. Saman currently serves as a District 15 Member.

The MCDCC serves five main functions:

  • Operating as the Montgomery County Democratic Party

  • Getting out the vote across Montgomery County to elect Democrats across MoCo and Maryland

  • Building the precinct organization by appointing officials (block captains) in each voting precinct

  • Connecting Democratic voters and candidates so voters can make more informed choices at the polls

  • Nominating people to the state legislature when there's a vacancy
